Penelope saw Mey-rin and Sebastian exchanging scowled expressions at one another. It was pretty surprising to Penelope, for she thought the maid always liked Sebastian. Shrugging it off, she held the hot tea in her hands; of course it was a bit hot, almost turning her palms pink, but it didn’t bother her much. She had hardly notice Sebastian pulling Mey-rin away, to be in her place. Tired and still a bit frighten from what happened earlier, she felt the sudden need of having someone to comfort her at the moment, even if it was a guy, she was willing to accept a hug from anybody. Even Baldroy, with all of his cigarettes and testy attitude towards her.She felt the tender touch of the fingers that belonged to the butler, who was wiping away the trail of her tears. Smiling a little, she thanked him. Now fully looking directly at Sebastian, she had noticed a few things about him. His jet black hair, deep red color eyes, ivory complexion, and his very well trimmed eyebrows. She could now see why most females would become rather fond of him, but it was something about his eyes. They looked rather devious, yet calm, as if nothing can faze him. Almost inhuman. Of course, Penelope figured as much that Sebastian wasn’t like anything she had ever seen and no, she didn’t have a problem about it either. In fact, it would probably be one of the main things that she finds fascinating about him,
Sebastian gave Penelope a small smile in response to the thanks. He gave her a cloth to wrap around the hot cup. “It’ll hurt less.” And he then looked in front of him, a small sigh escaping his lips. Sure, he’d done all the actions up until now, but what did they mean and why did he do them? He wanted some kind of explanation, but no one would be able to give that except for himself. And he couldn’t. Was this what was called confusion? He’d never felt like this before.
He turned his face back to look at the young lass, who seemed much happier now she didn’t cry. How much of a change that could make. He then stood up, still facing her. “Penelope, I think you should get some sleep when you’ve finished your tea.” His reasoning came of the fact that he’d read somewhere that sleep took your mind of things, and made you feel better the next morning. It already was quite late as well, and Penelope should work the next day so Ciel wouldn’t be bothered. Or get suspicious.
He closed the window and the curtains, his back now to Penelope. As he did so, he noticed some cats gathering in the garden. A small chuckle escaped his lips before he turned around. “I wish you a good night of sleep.” And he bowed slightly.
